Why these settings

The MG10G is a small solid-state practice amp that cannot physically match the Mesa Mark IIC+ saturation — even maxed, it produces fizzy breakup rather than tight high-gain. Settings above are the closest the amp alone can get: gain maxed, mids scooped hard to approximate the 'Hetfield scoop' (original mid 3-4), treble pushed for cut. A distortion pedal is strongly recommended to reach usable thrash tones. Your Jackson JS11 has a ceramic humbucker similar in output to Hetfield's EMG setup, so no pickup compensation needed.

PRO TIPHetfield's attack is ALL aggressive downpicking with the pick angled slightly — no alternate picking on the main riff. Mute hard with the palm right at the bridge saddles for that percussive 'chug' definition; loose muting kills the tone faster than any wrong knob setting.
