Why these settings

The Frontman 15R is a solid-state practice amp with no high-gain channel, so the DS-1 must provide all distortion — amp gain is set to 2 just for slight warmth. Mids are cut to 2 to approximate the original's V-shaped EQ scoop. Treble is pulled back to 6 because Fenders are naturally bright and the DS-1 adds fizz; the original Mesa is warmer in the highs.
