My Kind of Woman amp settings — Fender Frontman 10G
The Mac DeMarco guitar tone for “My Kind of Woman”, dialed in for a Fender Frontman 10G with a Squier Affinity Stratocaster. Studio version, 2 (2012)
Teisco Del Rey Spectrum 5 (neck pickup) → Boss CE-2 Chorus → Fender Champion 40 (clean channel)
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 3 |
| Bass | 6 |
| Treble | 5 |
| Master | 4 |
01Boss CE-2 Chorus
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; essential for the signature woozy modulation
The Frontman 10G has only Bass and Treble controls with no dedicated Mid, Presence, or built-in Reverb, so those parameters are omitted. Bass is bumped to 6 to compensate for the 6-inch speaker and single-coil Strat thinness, while Treble is pulled back to 5 to tame harsh solid-state bite. Rolling the Strat's tone knob down to 7 warms up the clean channel to emulate the darker Japanese vintage single-coil voicing of Mac's Teisco.
