My Kind of Woman amp settings — Fender Blues Junior IV
The Mac DeMarco guitar tone for “My Kind of Woman”, dialed in for a Fender Blues Junior IV with a Fender American Ultra Stratocaster. Studio version, '2' (2012) — lo-fi era with Teisco guitar
Japanese Teisco 'Cardboard Queen' → Fender Vibro Champ (miked into larger amp for volume) or small Fender combo, Boss CE-5 Chorus, EHX Holy Grail Reverb

01Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for Mac's warble; a Boss CE-2 clone or TC Electronic Corona also works
02Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Reverb
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The Blues Jr's onboard reverb can substitute; I've set amp reverb to 7 to compensate
Your Ultra Strat's noiseless pickups are hotter and cleaner than Mac's cheap Teisco, so I rolled the tone knob to 6 to soften the high-end clarity he naturally lacked. The Blues Jr's 6L6-style voicing is brighter than Mac's miked Vibro Champ setup, so treble stays at 7 (not higher) and bass at 4 to avoid mud. Without a chorus pedal, the tone will be missing its defining character — the reverb alone won't get you there.
