01ProCo Rat (or similar distortion)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for this tone. The Rat is Scott Lucas's core dirt sound. Amp stays clean; pedal provides all gain.
02Boss OC-2 or similar octave pedal
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Local H uses octave-down to fill bass frequencies as a two-piece. Engage for verses/heavy sections, bypass for leads.
The Twin Reverb cannot produce high-gain distortion from its preamp—it's a clean platform amp. Set it near-clean with gain at 3 and let a Rat-style pedal handle all saturation. Boosted bass and mids compensate for the Jaguar's brighter single coils versus Lucas's Les Paul humbuckers. The bright switch stays off to avoid ice-pick highs.
