RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The Woodstock GX-55R is a small solid-state practice amp that cannot achieve Mesa Rectifier saturation alone. Run the amp near-clean and let this pedal be the gain source. A Boss DS-1, Digitech Metal Master, or any affordable high-gain pedal will work.
The original uses quad-tracked Mesa Rectifiers with massive layering impossible on a single amp. The Woodstock GX-55R is an unrecognized budget solid-state amp, so I've based settings on universal controls only — it likely lacks presence, hence null. Its preamp cannot produce nu-metal saturation, so a high-gain distortion pedal is mandatory; amp gain at 7 adds grit without mud while the pedal handles the heavy lifting. Mid at 4 gives the signature scoop without disappearing.
