Why these settings

The Johnson RepTone 15 practice amp has limited preamp headroom and an 8-inch speaker, so pushing the drive channel gain past 7 will result in fizzy flub rather than the tight wall of sound from the blended Rectifier/5150 rig. We keep the bass centered at 5 to avoid farting out the small enclosure while boosting treble to 7 for Brad Delson's signature pick attack bite. Adding an external high-gain distortion pedal or boost down the road is the ideal upgrade to recreate this saturated nu-metal tone cleanly.

PRO TIPBrad Delson uses tight, aggressive downpicking with heavy palm-muting right against the bridge saddles; pick with a stiff 1.0mm+ pick angled slightly towards the headstock for maximum percussive attack.
