RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for tightening low end and adding mid-push on palm mutes. Without this, tone will be flabby and undefined. A Boss SD-1 or Joyo Vintage Overdrive are affordable alternatives.

Why these settings

The Fender PR-241 is a solid-state practice amp with limited gain and a naturally bright, scooped Fender voicing—the polar opposite of a 5150 or Rectifier. Gain is maxed because this amp cannot produce true high-gain saturation; bass is pulled back to 4 (vs original's 6-7) to prevent flub on the small speaker. Mids are pushed to 6 to compensate for Fender's inherent mid-scoop—Delson's tone is actually mid-forward despite the genre's reputation. The recommended Tube Screamer is critical: it compresses the signal, tightens the low end, and adds the midrange bark this amp lacks. Without it, you will get fizzy distortion rather than chunky nu-metal crunch.

PRO TIPYour Les Paul's humbuckers are hotter than Delson's PRS—this helps compensate for the amp's lower gain ceiling. Tune to drop D at minimum (drop C# if your strings allow) and dig in hard with your pick right over the bridge pickup. Palm-mute aggressively with your hand close to the bridge saddles for maximum tightness; looser muting toward the neck turns the riff to mud.
