Why these settings

The Freedom GA-30 is a generic solid-state practice amp, so running the Drive channel around 7 pushes necessary British-style crunch without completely breaking up into fizzy distortion. To compensate for the brighter, lower-output single coils on the Player Strat compared to the original humbuckers, mids are pushed to 7, bass kept firm at 5, and the guitar tone rolled back slightly to 9 to tame harsh treble. An external overdrive pedal is recommended to tighten the attack and give authentic JCM800 punch.
