Why these settings

Per the double-gain rule, your Squier SP.10 is kept on the clean setting with gain low so the DS-1 handles all clipping cleanly. Because the SP.10 has only a 6-inch speaker and 2-band EQ (no mid control), keep the DS-1 Tone rolled back to 4 to prevent solid-state fizz and emulate the thick midrange of Maiden's Marshall JVM stacks. Clean intro switch: bypass the DS-1 and switch to neck pickup.

PRO TIPDig in hard near the bridge with alternate picking on the galloping sections to capture Adrian and Dave's percussive attack.
