01Wah (GP-100 internal — fixed/cocked position)

Set wah to FIXED position at 65-70% travel (not swept) — this creates the nasal mid-honk essential to the intro. On GP-100, use the wah block with expression pedal bypassed or manually set the position parameter.

Position 7 · Q/Range 5

02Delay (GP-100 internal)

~425ms delay time, 3-4 repeats, 15% wet mix — subtle ambience, not slapback

Why these settings

Your GRX70QA has Infinity R humbuckers which are hotter and brighter than Slash's low-output Alnico IIs — compensate by dropping gain from the original's 8 to 6 and pulling treble from 7 to 6. Rolling your tone knob to 6 is critical for the vocal quality. The GP-100's JCM800/Brit model will nail the mid-forward Marshall character; push mids to 7 to recreate the non-scooped original.

PRO TIPThe cocked wah is 70% of this tone's identity — without it, the intro sounds generic. If your GP-100 wah block doesn't allow a fixed position, use a parametric EQ block with a +4dB boost at 1.2kHz, Q of 2.5, to fake the wah-honk.
