Why these settings

The Fender Blues Junior has a scooped American midrange compared to Slash's modded Marshall, so the amp's Middle control is pushed high and the 'Fat' boost switch is engaged to fatten the single-note sustain. Volume (preamp gain) is set to 8 with Master at 5 to squeeze maximum natural tube saturation out of the amp. Rolling the Les Paul neck pickup's tone knob back to 6 removes modern treble bite to recreate the signature liquid, fluty intro voice.
