Engage the amp's built-in drive switch and run Gain around 7 to generate the singing crunch from the analog circuit. To compensate for the bright single-coil neck pickup on the LA Strat-style guitar, roll the guitar's tone knob down to 5 to emulate Slash's warm Alnico II humbucker character. Verse/Chorus switch: Roll guitar volume to 7 for the cleaner rhythm arpeggios, switch back to bridge pickup on full volume for the main chords.

PRO TIPSlash played the iconic intro on his neck humbucker with the tone control rolled back roughly halfway (the famous 'woman tone'), which removes harsh top-end fizz and gives the intro lick its fluid, fluty resonance.
