01MXR Dookie Drive

Primary gain source; replicate the Pete/Meat blended Marshall circuit into the clean channel

Output 6 · Gain 7 · Blend 6 · Tone 6
Why these settings

The MXR Dookie Drive is used as the primary gain source to authentically duplicate Billie Joe's dual-modded Marshall setup. To avoid double-gain mush, the Laney LX35R is set strictly to its Clean channel with gain at 2. Treble is pushed to 7 on the Laney to add high-end bite to the Jet JS-400 bridge pickup. For the clean 'Nobody Likes You' section, simply bypass the Dookie Drive.

PRO TIPBillie Joe's wall-of-sound punch relies on aggressive, fast down-picking close to the bridge using a heavy (0.88mm-1.0mm) pick to maximize string attack.
