Why these settings

The Mesa Subway D-800 is a clean bass amplifier and cannot reach Billie Joe's modded Marshall Plexi crunch on its own, so Input Gain is pushed to 8 for maximum grit while keeping the Voicing knob low (0-2) and Deep switch OFF to prevent sub-bass mud. High-mid is dialed to 7 (with Low-Mid around 5) to replicate the biting British 1-2kHz attack through your humbuckers. Adding a dedicated Marshall-style distortion pedal will instantly bridge the gain gap, after which you can drop amp Input Gain to 3 for clean headroom.

PRO TIPUse heavy downward pick attack right near the bridge saddles using a rigid 0.73mm–1.0mm tortex pick to capture the signature percussive snap of the opening power chords.
