Why these settings

The Spider IV's Fender Twin model is the correct starting point for Harrison's clean slide foundation. Mid pushed to 6 compensates for the Spider's tendency toward scooped digital voicing. Tone knob rolled to 6 on the Strat tames the American Pro II's V-Mod pickups which are brighter than Harrison's vintage-wound Strat—this softens the highs for that vocal, singing slide quality.

PRO TIPHarrison used a glass slide and played with the slide directly over the fret wire, not between frets—this gives precise intonation and that fluid, voice-like sustain. Keep your fretting hand fingers lightly dampening strings behind the slide to eliminate sympathetic rattle.
