RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; critical upgrade to deliver true high-gain saturation into this clean bass practice amp
The Stagg 20 BA is a basic single-channel practice bass amplifier equipped only with Volume, High/Treble, Mid-High, Mid-Low, and Low controls, lacking any dedicated drive channel, presence, or reverb. To capture the massive Rectifier distortion today using only owned gear, max the amp's Volume/Gain to pull out whatever natural solid-state grit it can yield, push Treble to 8 to mimic the aggressive V30 bite, and balance the low-end so the 8-inch bass speaker does not fart out. Adding a dedicated high-gain distortion pedal like a Rat or DS-1 is strongly recommended to actually achieve Grohl's wall-of-sound crunch. Clean intro/verse: roll the guitar volume down to 6-7.
