Why these settings

The Kinsman BB10 Blaster is a 10-watt solid-state practice amp with only gain, bass, treble, and volume controls—no mid, presence, or reverb knobs exist on this amp. It cannot produce high-gain nu-metal saturation alone; gain is maxed but you need an external distortion pedal to reach Rectifier territory. Bass is pulled back from the original's 6 to 4 because the small speaker will flub out with too much low-end; treble is raised slightly to compensate for the Les Paul's darker voicing versus the original's EMG-loaded Jackson.

PRO TIPThe secret to this tone is extremely tight palm muting right at the bridge saddles—the original recording uses a noise gate to kill sustain instantly, so practice lifting your palm to stop notes dead rather than letting them ring. Your Les Paul's hotter passive humbuckers will compress slightly more than EMGs, so dig in harder with the pick for that percussive attack.
