RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Used as a clean boost, not for distortion. Adds slight compression and mid-push that defines this tone. A Behringer TO800 or Joyo Vintage Overdrive gets you 80% there for under $30.
Your MG15 CDR's Contour knob replaces a standard mid control — set it to noon (5) to keep mids present rather than scooped. The MG15's spring reverb is darker than the Hall of Fame's shimmer, so crank reverb to 7 to compensate for the wetness. Without the TS9, the tone will lack the subtle compression and mid-forward clarity — keep gain at 2 for near-clean headroom and let the reverb do the heavy lifting.
