RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The JC-22 is a pristine solid-state clean amp with no overdrive circuit. You MUST use a distortion pedal to get anywhere near Egerton's driven tone. A RAT, DS-1, or MXR Distortion+ will get you in the ballpark. Without this pedal, you cannot achieve this tone.

Why these settings

The Roland JC-22 is a famously clean solid-state amp—it has zero breakup at any volume. Egerton's Blackstar HT100 is a tube amp with preamp gain. The JC-22's gain knob is a clean volume, not overdrive, so I've set it to 0 and you MUST use an external distortion pedal as your gain source. I've pushed mids to 7 to compensate for the JC's naturally scooped voicing versus the Blackstar's mid-forward character. Your Vintage V6M24's humbuckers are a reasonable match for Egerton's Music Man humbucker output.

PRO TIPEgerton attacks the strings brutally hard with heavy picks (.94mm) and lets his aggressive right hand drive the dynamics—he literally removed all knobs from his guitar because he kept hitting them. Dig in hard with downstrokes and let the distortion pedal compress your attack. The tone lives in the violence of the pick attack, not in the settings.
