Why these settings

The amp is an unrecognized generic Harley Benton practice model, so faceplate controls are limited to gain, volume, bass, and treble. To compensate for thin Strat single-coils against Stef's hot Seymour Duncan JB humbucker, gain is pushed to 7 on the drive channel while treble and the guitar's tone knob are rolled back to shave off harsh bite. The tiny solid-state speaker cannot replicate a cranked Marshall 4x12 stack, so adding a dedicated distortion pedal will provide the necessary low-end saturation; once acquired, switch the amp to clean and run gain at 2. Clean verse: roll guitar volume back to 4 or switch to neck pickup.

PRO TIPTune to Drop Db (Db-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb) and use heavy 1.0mm+ picks striking directly over the bridge pickup with aggressive palm muting to achieve Stephen Carpenter's percussive, chugging attack.
