BOOST — runs into front input to tighten the low-end attack and add high-mid bite to the Brown channel
The Katana's Brown voice recreates the cascaded tube preamp saturation of Stephen Carpenter's ADA MP-1 and Marshall power section. Running the owned DS-1 as a tight boost (Dist low, Level high) shapes the front-end attack without adding unwanted fizz. Mids are kept at 6 to maintain the dense chord clarity essential for Deftones' drop Db wall of sound. Clean verse: bypass the DS-1 and switch the Katana to Clean with onboard chorus enabled.
