01Distortion Pedal (Boss DS-1 or similar)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The LT25's modeling gets you close, but a dedicated distortion pedal with the amp set cleaner (gain 3-4) would nail the saturated sludge grind more authentically. Run into front input.
The LT25's high-gain models approximate the Rectifier's saturation but lack the massive low-end thump of a tube 4x12 stack. I pushed bass to 7 and kept mids at 6 to preserve the sludgy thickness Windstein is known for—scooping mids here would lose the Crowbar sound entirely. Treble at 5 prevents fizz from the digital modeling. The Metal 2000 model gets closest to Rectifier saturation; the British 80s is an alternative with more midrange grind.
