01Onboard Booster (Screamer)
Katana onboard booster block configured as Screamer to replicate Alexi's tight preamp boost
The Katana Artist MkII's Brown voice replicates the hot-rodded Marshall/Lee Jackson GP-1000 core tone, while the presence knob on the Artist faceplate adds the required top-end sizzle. Passive Infinity R pickups on the Ibanez GIO lack the output of Alexi's boosted EMG-HZ setup, so the Katana's onboard Screamer boost is engaged with zero drive and high level to tighten the sub-bass and sharpen picking transients. Mids are kept at 6 to maintain cut and note definition in Drop C tuning without sounding hollow.
