RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The LG12's preamp cannot reach Rectifier saturation levels; a distortion pedal is essential. Set amp gain to 3-4 when using this pedal to avoid mud.

Why these settings

The Laney LG12 is a 10W solid-state practice amp with limited gain headroom — it cannot replicate Mesa Rectifier saturation alone. The original tone's tight low-end and grinding mids require a distortion pedal in front with the amp running relatively clean. Your Strat's single coils are brighter and lower-output than Pete Loeffler's PRS humbuckers, so bass is pushed slightly and treble kept moderate to compensate for the thinner voicing.

PRO TIPChevelle tunes to Drop-C on this track — if you're in standard tuning, the riff will sound thinner. Try palm-muting closer to the bridge for that tight, percussive chug Pete gets, and dig in hard with the pick for attack definition.
