Comfortable Liar amp settings — Fender Mustang LT25
The Chevelle guitar tone for “Comfortable Liar”, dialed in for a Fender Mustang LT25 with a Ibanez GIO GRG170DX. Studio version, Wonder What's Next (2002)
Pete Loeffler used a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier head with Mesa 4x12 cab, PRS Custom 22 guitar with humbuckers, minimal pedal use - tone is amp-driven high-gain with tight low-end and aggressive midrange
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 7 |
| Bass | 6 |
| Mid | 4 |
| Treble | 6 |
| Reverb | 0 |
| Master | 5 |
The Mustang LT25 cannot match a Dual Rectifier's saturation depth, but the Metal 2000 or similar high-gain model gets closest. Kept gain at 7 rather than maxing it - the LT25 gets fizzy above 8. Mid at 4 gives the signature Rectifier scoop while keeping note definition. The original has almost no room reverb - completely dry.
