This is how Cannibal Corpse runs it — the amp provides the gain, the MT-2 tightens the signal and adds high-end cut. Without this pedal, you lose significant tightness and scoop character.

Why these settings

Your MG100DFX's FDD channel is a solid state high-gain voice, not a Rectifier's tube sag — it will be tighter and more sterile. The Harley Benton R-466 has passive humbuckers with lower output than EMG 81s, so gain stays maxed. Mids scooped to 3 replicates the Rectifier's classic death metal hollow midrange. Without an MT-2 or similar boost pedal, you will lack the surgical tightness CC gets — consider a used MT-2 (~$50) or Behringer HM300 clone (~$25).

PRO TIPPalm mute HARD and directly over the bridge saddles — death metal tightness comes from aggressive right-hand technique as much as gear. Pick with the thick part of the pick angled slightly for more attack and less string flap.
