Red Special guitar (Burns Tri-Sonic pickups in series out-of-phase) -> Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster -> cranked Vox AC30 Normal/Top Boost
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 9 |
| Bass | 4 |
| Mid | 8 |
| Treble | 5 |
| Reverb | 2 |
| Master | 6 |
01Treble Booster (Dallas Rangemaster clone / KAT Treble Booster)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; essential for the exact Brian May harmonic saturation and chime
The Blues Junior IV has a naturally scooped American midrange compared to a cranked EL84 Vox AC30, so Middle is pushed to 8 with the FAT switch engaged (boost on) and Treble reined in to 5 to tame Fender top-end fizz. Volume (preamp gain) is set high to push the front-end tubes into maximum saturation since you do not currently own a Treble Booster. Adding a Rangemaster or germanium treble booster pedal later will let you drop amp Volume to 4-5 and achieve the authentic singing chime. Heavy rock outro: switch pickup to bridge and push treble to 6.
