RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; Tony Iommi's modified Rangemaster drove the Laney front-end to produce his signature heavy sludge
The GA15's small 6.5-inch speaker and solid-state drive circuit run thin and buzzy compared to a cranked 100W Laney stack, so push the amp's middle control to 8 and cap treble at 5 to avoid harshness. To compensate for the Stratocaster's brighter, lower-output single-coil bridge pickup versus Iommi's fat P90, roll the guitar tone knob back to 7 to shave off glassy bite and thicken the low-mids. A dedicated treble booster or overdrive pedal will eventually bridge the saturation gap, but this gets the heaviest playable punch out of the standalone amp today.
