Why these settings

The Crate MX20RC is a 20W solid-state practice amp with limited gain saturation compared to the Bogner Uberschall's cascaded tube preamp. Even with gain maxed, this amp reaches hard-rock territory, not modern metal saturation. The settings above push the amp's R channel to its limit, but a high-gain distortion pedal is required to reach the original's tight aggression. Mid is raised to 7 because the original Uberschall tone has prominent 800Hz presence that cuts through; the Crate's mid control sits lower in frequency, so pushing it compensates for missing upper-mid bite.

PRO TIPTune to Drop D and palm-mute directly over the bridge pickup for that tight 'chunk' — Synyster Gates picks aggressively close to the bridge with the fleshy part of his palm barely touching the strings, which keeps the attack defined without killing sustain.
