RECOMMENDED — not owned. Essential for the shimmering doubled-guitar effect on the recording. A Boss CE-5 or TC Electronic Corona would work. Without this, the tone will be drier and more direct than the original.

Why these settings

The Soundstation RGP 10 is a basic solid-state practice amp without the preamp tube saturation of the A/DA MP-1, so gain is pushed to 7 to compensate for lower harmonic complexity. Bass is cut to 4 to avoid mud (the original used filtered low-end for clarity in B-standard), and mids are scooped slightly to 4 to match the TriAxis-style voicing. Your SC-Custom II's humbuckers are hotter than a vintage PAF, so treble is raised to 6 to retain articulation.

PRO TIPPalm-mute aggressively on the chugging sections and let the pick attack do the work — Hickey's tone clarity comes from precise right-hand technique, not just gain. Roll your tone knob to 7 to tame the solid-state fizz on the high strings.
