01Boss ML-2 Metal Core
Use as 808-style boost — LOW dist, high level pushes the Katana's Brown channel. This is NOT a high-gain pedal role here; keep Dist low to tighten the amp's response without stacking mud.
The Katana's Brown channel approximates the 5150's gain structure. Your ESP's passive humbuckers have lower output than Heafy's EMG 81, so the ML-2 at low gain compensates as a boost/tightener the way the Maxon 808 did on the album. Mids pushed to 7 replicates that aggressive mid-forward 5150 bark; bass kept moderate to avoid flub since the original tone is tight, not boomy.
