01Boss ML-2 Metal Core
Use as a clean boost only — Dist at 0, Level pushed. This mimics the Maxon OD808 tightening trick Heafy uses. The ML-2's EQ section still shapes the signal even with Dist off. Do NOT stack with amp gain — the Brown channel provides the saturation.
The Peavey Triple XXX is tighter and more mid-scooped than the Katana's Brown voice, so I dropped mids to 4 and raised treble to 7 to approximate that razor-edged thrash scoop. Heafy runs gain around 6 on the original — 'less gain equals a tighter tone' per his own interviews — so I matched that. Your ESP Ltd Alexi-200 has high-output humbuckers similar to EMGs, so no gain compensation needed. The ML-2 at zero distortion acts as a signal tightener like the Maxon OD808 Trivium uses in front of their Peaveys.
