Why these settings

The vintage-style tube Vibro Champ only features Bass and Treble controls (no Mid or Presence) and produces a loose, low-wattage tube breakup rather than the tight high-gain saturation of a Diezel or 6505. Push the amp's volume and gain to get maximum saturation while keeping the bass restrained at 5 so the small 8-inch speaker does not flub out under Drop-C tuning. With an external modern high-gain distortion pedal, roll the amp gain down to 3 and let the pedal generate the tight metal low-end. Clean verse: roll guitar volume back to 4-5 and switch to the middle single-coil pickup.

PRO TIPBecause the song is tuned down to Drop C (C-G-C-F-A-D), use a heavy 1.0mm+ pick and strike the low strings right next to the bridge to keep the palm-muted chugs tight and prevent the low-C fundamental from blooming.
