The original uses a fat hollow-body guitar through a Fender Showman—warm, scooped American voicing. Your Squier Strat has brighter, thinner single coils, so ISF is set fully counter-clockwise (American) to approximate the Showman's warmth. Bass raised to 6 to compensate for the Strat's lighter low-end vs the Gretsch. Treble dropped to 5 and tone knob rolled to 7 to tame the Strat's ice-pick bridge pickup and emulate hollow-body roundness. Gain stays very low—this is a clean tone.

PRO TIPPick closer to the neck (over the neck pickup area) even while using the bridge pickup selector. This softens the attack and adds warmth, mimicking how a hollow-body's longer scale and heavier strings respond—Frusciante does this constantly for cleaner passages.
