Why these settings

Because you are using humbuckers on a Les Paul instead of single coils, we use the middle (both pickups) position and roll guitar volume back to 8 to avoid muddying the low end. We compensate for the thicker humbucker output by pulling the amp bass to 5, raising treble to 7, and running the Screamer model as a clean boost (Drive 2, Level 8) to shape the signature SRV mid-spike.

PRO TIPSRV tuned down a half-step to Eb and used heavy strings with aggressive percussive right-hand pick rakes across muted lower strings to get the iconic snapping rhythmic pop on the downbeats.
