Why these settings

The Bogner Ecstasy is mid-forward with smooth, compressed gain — your Fender Twin is the opposite: scooped, bright, and clean with no breakup. ALL gain must come from the RP150's overdrive block; the Twin stays crystal clean as a pedal platform. I pushed mids to 7 and dropped treble to 5 to compensate for the Twin's natural brightness and scoop. Your Strat's single-coil neck pickup is brighter and lower output than Vai's DiMarzio Evolution humbucker, so the tone knob at 7 warms it up.

PRO TIPThe magic of this tone is volume knob dynamics — Vai constantly rolls back to clean up for the soft passages, then digs in at full volume for the singing leads. Practice swelling your guitar volume from 5 to 10 mid-phrase to capture that expressive, breathing quality.
