01Zoom G1XFour — Distortion Block (use 'MS 1959' or 'BG MK1' amp model if available, otherwise 'HG THRTTL' or similar high-gain)

Use this as your primary tone-shaping — set Spider II to a cleaner channel if stacking, or bypass Zoom drive and use Spider's Insane channel alone

02Zoom G1XFour — Noise Gate

Essential for tight '80s palm mutes — kills flub between riffs

Short slapback for '80s width — subtle, not obvious

Why these settings

Your 7-string Ibanez has hotter output than Satchel's Kramers, so gain is dropped from what a vintage humbucker would need. The Spider II's 'Insane' channel is scooped and fizzy by nature — mid at 4 and treble at 7 counteracts some of that to get closer to the tight Marshall bark. Rolling tone knob to 8 tames the extended-range guitar's extra brightness.

PRO TIPSatchel's glam rhythm tone relies on extremely precise palm muting right at the bridge saddles — too far forward sounds muddy, too light sounds undefined. Practice muting pressure: you want the 'chug' to be percussive but still have note definition on the low strings.
