01Valeton GP-5 Wah Block

Use expression pedal sweep for lead sections; Thayil's wah work is aggressive and vocal

Type 1 · Position 5

02Valeton GP-5 Chorus Block

Subtle — used for spatial width, not obvious warble; CE-2 style if available in amp models

Rate 4 · Depth 5 · Mix 3
Why these settings

Your Tele's single coils are brighter and lower output than Thayil's Guild humbuckers. Compensate by rolling tone knob to 7, boosting bass +1 and cutting treble -1 vs original settings. The Cube's R-FIER model approximates the Dual Rectifier's scooped aggression but lacks the same low-end thump — push bass harder than you normally would.

PRO TIPThayil tuned to Drop-D and used heavy pick attack on downstrokes for that percussive chunk. Dig in hard near the bridge pickup with a thick pick (1mm+) to get the grinding midrange bite.
