Cumbersome amp settings — Boss Katana 50 MkII
The Seven Mary Three guitar tone for “Cumbersome”, dialed in for a Boss Katana 50 MkII with a Squire Bullet. Studio version, American Standard (1995)
Gibson Les Paul Goldtop P90 → ProCo Rat → Marshall JMP (channels linked, amp clean, Rat for dirt)
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 4 |
| Bass | 3 |
| Mid | 6 |
| Treble | 7 |
| Reverb | 0 |
The original used a Rat into a clean Marshall—a classic pedal-as-gain-source setup. The Katana's Crunch type approximates a JCM800-style voice, so moderate gain (4) with scooped bass (3) and pushed treble (7) replicates the Rat's thin, gritty character. Your Squier's ceramic single coils are brighter and lower output than P90s, so mid is boosted to 6 to compensate for the missing P90 bark.
