Why these settings

Prince's iconic lead relies on a thick Mesa Mark lead channel pushed by an SD-1/DS-1 and colored with analog delay and subtle flanger. On the Flamma/Flatsons multi-FX platform, we engage a high-gain California/Mesa lead amp model boosted with an onboard TS/SD-1 block to replicate that singing sustain without external pedals. The Stratocaster's bridge single-coil tone knob is rolled down slightly to 8 to tame high-end harshness and match the thicker midrange of Prince's Hohner MadCat. Intro chords: switch to neck+middle position and bypass the boost block.

PRO TIPUse deliberate vibrato with the flesh of your fretting finger right against the fret wire, and dig in hard with a medium-heavy pick angled slightly toward the bridge to coax out Prince's vocal upper-harmonic squeals.
