Why these settings

The Ibanez IBZ10BV2 faceplate features Volume, Bass, Middle, and Treble controls (gain, presence, and reverb are omitted as they do not exist on the unit). Because the IBZ10BV2 has a small 6.5-inch speaker that naturally lacks deep low-mid authority compared to a 4x12 Hiwatt cabinet, the amp's Middle is pushed to 7 with Bass at 6 to replicate the round fundamental of Waters' P-bass without bottoming out the speaker. Treble is dialed to 5 with the Westone Pantera's split-neck pickup active and its tone knob backed off to 7 to smooth out high-end click while keeping the pick articulation clear. During the guitar solo section, the original recording adds a subtle studio tremolo effect to the bass track.

PRO TIPUse a heavy pick, pluck firmly about halfway between the split-neck pickup and the bridge, and use light palm-muting with your picking hand to get the iconic dry, thumpy decay heard on the main 7/4 riff.
