01Screamer (HD500X built-in TS model)

Place BEFORE the amp block — this is doing the Precision Drive job: tightening low-end and adding pick attack, NOT adding gain. Drive at 0 is correct.

Drive 0 · Bass 5 · Tone 7 · Output 8

02Noise Gate (HD500X built-in)

Essential — the hard gate between stabs defines the Periphery sound. Place after Screamer, before amp block. Fast decay.

Threshold 7 · Decay 2
Why these settings

Original used Axe-FX III's 5150 Block Letter model at gain 9 with Precision Drive. POD HD500X's Treadplate is your tightest high-gain option — dropped gain to 7 because the HD series runs hotter than Fractal, and the Screamer in front compensates. Scooped mid to 3 (original was 4) because Treadplate is already mid-forward vs the 5150's natural scoop. Your Solar's passive ceramics are slightly darker than Misha's Fishmans — treble bumped +1 to compensate.

PRO TIPThe entire riff lives on the low G# string — pick directly over the bridge pickup with a stiff 1.0mm+ pick and attack hard. The Precision Drive (Screamer at drive 0) isn't adding dirt, it's acting as a low-cut filter and compressor to make palm mutes razor-tight. If your low string sounds flubby, raise the Screamer's Tone to 8.
