Why these settings

The Crate RFX120 uses an analog solid-state high-gain circuit (Solo channel) that provides ample saturation for slam death metal without pedals. Because PeelingFlesh tunes down to Drop A, bass is kept at 7 to avoid low-end mud on the 12-inch speakers, while mids are scooped slightly to 4 for modern aggressive crunch. Treble is pushed to 7 to replicate the bright string attack of modern active pickups on passive Diamond Plus humbuckers.

PRO TIPTune the lowest string down to Drop A (A-E-A-D-G-B) using heavy gauge strings (at least .012–.056 or .060) and anchor your palm firmly on the bridge saddles to get that percussive, chugging slam attack without loose bass flub.
