Why these settings

The Catalyst's high-gain channel approximates the Randall RG100ES solid-state attack reasonably well. Dimebag's tone was famously mid-scooped via external EQs — without a graphic EQ pedal, compensate by keeping mid at 3 and letting bass/treble dominate. The Jackson JS11's ceramic humbucker is hotter and brighter than the L-500XL, so treble stays at 7 rather than pushing higher.

PRO TIPTune to D standard (or drop D at minimum) and focus on palm-mute pressure — Dimebag's attack was extremely tight and precise, with the mute barely lifted between chugs. The tone lives in the right hand.
