Why these settings

The Gear4music 10w is a small practice amp with limited gain and a basic EQ section lacking mid and presence controls. Dimebag's tone requires extreme saturation and a heavily scooped mid-range that this amp cannot produce alone — a distortion pedal is mandatory. I maxed the amp's gain for body but the pedal is the primary gain source. Bass pushed high replicates Dime's thunderous low-end; treble high preserves the cutting attack through a small speaker.

PRO TIPDimebag's secret weapon was his right-hand attack — he picked HARD directly over the bridge pickup with the pick angled aggressively. This creates that percussive 'clank' on palm mutes that defines the Walk riff. Practice the main riff muted tightly against the bridge with downstrokes only, letting the open power chords ring with a slight release of palm pressure.
