RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. This is essential to Dime's tone. The 'frown' EQ shape (boosted low-mids at 400-800Hz, cut lows at 100Hz, cut upper-mids at 3.2kHz) adds gain and tightness. An MXR M109S, Boss GE-7, or Behringer EQ700 will work.

Why these settings

The Rocktile Scream 15 is a small solid-state practice amp, which actually aligns with Dime's preference for solid-state response. However, it lacks the headroom and EQ sophistication of a Randall RH-100. To compensate: scoop the mids hard (3), push bass and treble for that aggressive V-shape, and max out gain. The amp will not achieve the tight low-end punch without an EQ pedal in front — this is non-negotiable for authentic Dime tone. Without the EQ, the tone will be fizzy and undefined.

PRO TIPDime's secret was the EQ pedals BEFORE the amp acting as a preamp boost and tone shaper — not an overdrive. If you cannot get an EQ pedal, roll your guitar's tone knob to 6-7 and dig in hard with the pick right at the bridge to get some of that articulate attack. Palm mute tightly and use downstrokes for the main riff to approximate the percussive chunk.
