01Behringer EQ700 - Equalizer
Placed first to replicate Dimebag's pre-distortion Furman/MXR mid-and-treble boost
02TC ELECTRONIC Eyemaster distortion
Primary high-gain distortion source into the clean channel (double-gain prevention)
03Behringer NR300 Noise Reducer
Essential for clamping extreme high-gain hiss and tight stop-start riffing
Because the Eyemaster is our primary high-gain distortion source, the Laney LX20R is set to its clean channel with gain dropped to 2 to prevent muddy double-gain. Dimebag built his tone by heavily boosting upper midrange (800Hz-3.2kHz) before the gain stage with outboard EQs, which the EQ700 replicates before hitting the distortion, while the amp EQ is kept scooped (mid at 2, treble at 8). Clean intro/outro: bypass the Eyemaster and EQ700, turn on the UC200 chorus and VD400 delay.
