Why these settings

To compensate for the Fender Player Stratocaster's brighter, lower-output single coils compared to Randy's Gibson humbuckers, tone is rolled back slightly to 8 and amp bass is maintained while mids are pushed aggressively. The Plexi 100 model is pushed by the onboard distortion block to recreate the classic MXR Distortion+ and cranked Super Lead combination. The onboard EQ block provides the crucial mid-range hump that defines Randy's buzzsaw attack.

PRO TIPRandy aggressively triple-tracked his rhythm guitars and used firm pick attack near the bridge; roll the Strat's tone knob down to roughly 8 to eliminate excessive single-coil high-end harshness while preserving the harmonic squeal on the F#m riff.
