Why these settings

The Twin Reverb has naturally scooped mids and an extremely bright top end compared to the Mesa Studio Preamp/Marshall cab used on the record, so keep the bright switch off and pull treble down to 4. Using your Strat's neck pickup with the tone rolled down slightly to 8 softens single-coil snap to mimic Kurt's shorter-scale Mustang/Jaguar warmth. Chorus/solo section: kick on your owned distortion pedal while leaving the amp clean.
